Once referred to as “the most recruited player in Wayne County history” according to the Macon Telegraph in 1977, Lindsay Scott was a first-team All-State wide receiver during his time at Wayne County. Scott recorded 33 touchdowns in his junior and senior seasons, leading the Yellow Jackets to an 18-5 record across those years including a Class 3A semifinals appearance as a junior. He was named as a top-11 recruit in the state of Georgia by the Atlanta Journal, and continued his football career in Athens at the University of Georgia where he excelled tremendously on the field for the Bulldogs. Scott became the first Bulldog wideout to have more than 2,000 career receiving yards, recording 131 receptions for 2,098 yards while at UGA. Scott was an integral part of Georgia’s 1980 national championship team as he made big plays throughout the season, including a 93-yard touchdown reception against Florida to remain in contention for the national title. Scott was drafted with the 13th-overall selection in the first round of the 1982 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints and played in the league for four seasons, totaling 69 receptions for 864 yards and a touchdown. He spent all four of his seasons with the Saints and started in 22 games throughout his NFL career.
